In acknowledging the receipt of letter hence, No. 1745 of the 28th December last, having reference to the great mortality among the Madras convicts at Port Blair, forwards the annexed Proceedings of that Government, from which it will be seen that orders have been issued for ensuring the convicts transported from Madras being invariably accompanied by a Government Medical Subordinate, who will be responsible for their treatment on board and condition on arrival at their destination.
