Forwarding to the Foreign Department Act No.XVIII of 1855 to remove doubts relating to the power to grant pardons and Reprieves and Remissions of Punishment in India in whidh department the Government of India will continue to exercise the power of pardon etc. in all cases arising in the territories of native slates under political control in all now regulation and other Provisions of which the exicutive Government is in the hands of the Governor General the attention of the local Government to be drawn to the provisions of the above act.
