Secretary Bengal - With Reference to orders of 26th January last reports the appointment of Mr. W. Gordin Young as Director of Public Instruction in the Bengal Presidency or a salary of Rs. 30,000 a year & that Messers Prottand Chapnan of the Civil Service have been appointed on Rs. 1,500 & Rs. 1,000 a month respectively and Messers Woodrow & Rolinson on Rs. 1,000 & 750 per month as Inspectors of Eduction - Requests sanction to the appointment as occasion may require of 20 Sub Inspectors on 150 Rs. each & 20 on 100 Rs. each inclusive of 30 Rs. a Mr. a as travelling allowance requests also sanction to an establishment for each of the Inspector amounting to Rs. 64 a month ( Besides 20 Rs. as Office rent ) and notices the travelling allowances proposed to be paid to them. Rules regarding grants in aid to private Schools shall from the subject of a separate letter.
