The date of the War's end will be determined in accordance with Ordinance No. X of 1946. With effect from April 1st, 1946, H.E. the Viceroy revoked the emergency declaration made under the Government of India Act. The U.K. India (Central Government and Legislature) Act of 1946 gave the Indian Legislature the authority to buy such land and extend the duration of the Defense of India Act, among other things
