Request for the grant of special C.L. to Mr. P.V. Shah who was permitted to Assistant Mr. Parekh, officer of the ex. Saurashtra Railway under suspension, Not agreed to. Insertion of Note 4 under Rule 1730-RI issued in Board's letter dated 25-9-56 stating that in a departmental enquiry, the accused railway officer may, if he so desires be accompanied by another railway officer, provided that the officer so nominated as the defence counsel is approved by the competent authority to act as such, and provided also that the person so nominated shall not be a professional lawyer. Board also decided in their letter dated 25-9-56 that counsel for gazetted officers should also be given the same facilities by way of special passes and special casual leave, subject to the other conditions as are in force for the grant of these facilities in the case of non-gazetted staff
