Represents, for consideration, the hardship involved upon him as a Military Officer in Civil employ:- 1st-Promotion to a majority consequent on entering the Staff Corps involved an actual loss of salary, while no corresponding increase can result to him so long as he continues a Military Officer in Civil employ upon a consolidated salary. 2nd-That a consolidated allowance of Rupees 1000 per mensem (subject to deductions) as Deputy Commissioner of such an important district as Bassein in not adequate, when the length of his service in Civil employ and the fact that as a Major in the Staff Corps alone, he would be drawing only about Rupees 350 less are taken into consideration. 3rd-That the amalgamation of the three provinces of British Burmah entailed a loss as regards position. 4th-That the rule disallowing any acting allowances to officer acting for others of their grade is very hard. 5th-That the great inferiority of position as regards Military Officers in Civil employ compared with the Civil Service, Engineer Corps, and C., is very hard and painful
