Letter from the President and Council of Fort St. George, reporting the despatch of the ships Southamptone and Grosvenor with cargoes of saltpetre , redwood and stores for Bengal, and the arrival of the ships Alford, Count Bermstoff, and of the Snows Speedwell , Nelly, and the Eleconora with cargoes of rice compaining of the bad qulity of biscuit consigned from Bengal, requesting the Board to forward the invoice of the rice and an account of the salt provisions consigned by the free Mason to Bombay bat detained at Madras,intimating that they have ships Southampton Queen, fortitude, and the Valentine to retain their lead for China as ballast, and that they have drawn certain sets of bills of exchange on the Board and enclosing an account of the weight ob board the ships coventry , Nymph and chaser.
