From Committee appointed to report upon the best mode of Executing the general Printing business of the Government - Concurs that strong objections exist to the Printing business of Government being published through the Medium of a News Paper. Suggest that the Vehicle in future to be adopted assume the form of the London Gazette - that as considerable reductions may be made in the present rates for printing. Recommned that the Committee of Management of the Orphan Press be called upon to make a deduction of 30 per cent from the present printing charges, and in the event of their declining to do so, that a Separate Establishment be formed for the printing of a Gazette in the form above stated and for the general printing business of Government. Submit as Estimate of the probable cost of the latter arrangement. With regard to compensation for the loss of Government employment consider the Press of the Orphan Institution has no claim, since it has realized a Profit of 50,000 Rupees per A
