From Secretary In reply states that the temporary removal of the Madras Government to the Neilgherries was a matter of necessity as will be observed from the letter addressed by the Government to the Court Director dated 31st March, Last, a copy of which was funished to this Government. The Expression in the commission of this Department to the Government of Fort St. George dated the 1 st. April, referred to the objection that had been made by the Honble the Court of Director to the separation of the governor form his council # and did not assume that to be case at present, but that the Honble Court object more to the present position of the Government which left no responsible Member at Presidency.
