From - In reply states that under Act. XXV of 1856 the C# have former to reduce at any time the rate of assessment imposed upon any property within the town but that it is altogether optional with them to exercise that authority - Think that they would be very unwilling to entertain on application for a reduction of assessment & that any attempt to have a new valuntion made before the end of the current year # he unsucessful.
