Read a Despatch from the Right Honble the Sectretary of State for India No. 20 of 1859 dated 24th February replying to letter No. 30 dated 27th December 1858 transmitting further correspondence regarding the ammesty clauses of the Queens Proclamation - Expresses the regrit of His Majesty Government that the opinion of the Advocate General was taken as to the construction to be placed on the words of the Ammesty Absence that the strict legal meaning of the words used was little moment when the interpritation adopted & acted upon by the Government was on the side of mercy & gave the widest extent to the operation of the ammesty stated that His Majesty Government sees no reason to depart from the views expressed in Public Despatch No. 11 dated 31st January 1859.
