Read a Despatch no 25 of 1858 of the 16 February from the Honble the Court of Director stating that in Consequence of the large demand for Coal in India, and the great Cost at which that demand is met from England, thir attention has been givin to the researches of Mr.David Smith and Mr. J.H.Blackwell in the Bengal and Bombay presidencies. Desiring that this Government will taken into its early considration whether and in what manner any of the districts where the report of the Coal are favrrable may be made available for meeting the demand for that article in India Authorging the reengagement of the services of Mr.D. Smith for the proucation of further reserches after Coal in new localities. Suggesting that all reasmable encouragement requred for Government may be afforded tomining operating in any of the localities indicated by Messrs Smith and Blackwell, where Iron is to be found.
