Forwards copy of a letter from the Officiating Cheif Commissioner of British Burmah, No. 20 dated 27th ultimo, urging the necessity for an armed steamer on the upper waters of the Irrawaddy to be stationed as formerly on the frontier at Thayetmyo; with the request that it may be as certained whether any vessel suitable for the purpose is available, and that the opinion of Captain Howe may be obtained as to the description of vessel suitable for the object in view.(3 copies)
