Rejection of the proposals made by the United Planters Association of Southern India- (1) that the import into India of all foreign tea or at least of Java tea should be prohibited (2) that in the alternative an import duty of four annas a pound should be placed on all tea imported into India: (3) that in view of the extremely inferior quality of some of the imported teas a standard quality should be enforced ; and (4) that the Australian Government should be asked to re-impose the prohibition on the import on the import of Java tea into the Commonwealth.
