With refrence to mily Department letter no 474 of the 17th Ultimo, states that the C.in C is of opinion that it would not be expedient to lay down any positive Rule on the question mooted by the Bombay Govt. that as Genersl principal His Execllency considers that Brigadier appointed by Govt on the recommendation of the C.in C should not be disturbad by tehe arrival in the Command of a senior officer, especially when such senior officer has returned from have of own convenience but as case may arise when the interest of the service, would suffer by adherence to this principal thinks that its should be left to the commander in Chief to settle such cases in Comm'n with Govt.
