In reply to mily dept. dispatch no. 376 of 12th ult. intimates that in the c.in chiefs opinion the claims of the several men of the madras army recommended by their commanding officers and the C.in chief and that Presy. for the grativity granted by G.O. no. 196 of 20th may 1848 are valid and established under the provisions of that Regt.
