WIth reference to a letter of the 24th Ultimo, requesting to be whether the Superintending Engineer S.E. Provinces has been reproved for returning from Burdwan without permission or without having affected the object for which he was Directed to proceed to that station submit copies of correspondence with the Govt. of Bengal, on the subject from which it will be learnt that the Deputy Governor of Bengal is unable to perceive that the reference Contained in Bd's. despatch no. 3111 of the 20th August last, Calls for order. Submit also copies of letter ditained in the margine having reference to the pragrafs make in the reconstruction of the Burdwan Embankments by captain Patt after the departure of repairs executed togeher with the Crrespondence with Lieut. Colonel Sage on the subject.
