Enclosure to a letter from A.G. Army no., 1050 dated 28th September. With reference to a letter of the 26th April last, requesting information of the paticulars of the Purchase of horses at Peshawar for the Mounted Branches of the Service, submit copy correspondence with the Officer Commanding the Punjanb Division on the Subject. States the Commander in Chief considers the Report to be very complete in all particulars, not only as relates to the Superiority of Colonial Horses & those procurable from beyond the W. & North Western Frontier over the Cattle bred at the studs; byt also as regards the excess of last entailed upon the state by supplying the Several mounted branches from the Establishment over that for which has mounts of a superier description could be obtained also where. an excess of Expenditure estimated by Sir W. Gilbert at Rs. 6,60,000 Annually. & adds that this veriable representation greatly strenghted the opinion previously expressed by his Excy. in the Adjt. General
