In reply to No. 1849, dated 14th June, regarding an application for head money for the medical charge of convicts on the passage between Rangoon, Moulmein, and Port Blair, states that it is desirable, in order to ensure proper medical care for the convicts, that head money should be allowed to the Medical Officer of the ship. Points out that the rate suggested by the Chief Commissioner, British Burmah, is very moderate, and recommends a higher one.
