Copy of a letter fromMr.James TaylorAssay Master at Fort St.George tothe President and council of Fort St.George respecting the coinage of gold bullion received from Calcutta reforting to the remarks made by the Mint Master of Bengal on the same subject intimating that the gold received from Bengal is not properly alloyed and very brittle recommending that instead of the gold being sent from Calcutta in ingots it be melted into bars of abut 200 ounces cash and that the bars be alloyed with 2/3 ounces silber and the remainder with sheet copper and forwarding his accounts of the costs of the coinagee of gold bullon.
