Letter from Dr.J.Fleming, Acting Superintendent of the Botanical Garden, to Mr.D.Campbell, Sub-Secretary, enquiring how the nutmeg trees brought from Amboyna to the Botanical Garden should be disposed of, proposing that some may be sent to Prince of Wales Island in charge of Mr.Smith, and suggesting that the latter should be instructed to endeavour toestablish a nutmeg plantation on the island and then proceed to the Moluccas to collect plants and seeds, especially the clove plant and the gomuti palm.
