From Governor - Forwards copy of a presentment from the Grand Jury of Singapore respecting the increase and dangerous state of the Wooden Bridge over the River - the native Poor House and Infirmary - the number of Beggers and diseased Persons who are continnally seen in the Streets - the want of a proper Market - the Sand Bank in the River to remedy which has removed an embankment & made another at the expense of 1000 Rs. to be re-imbursed by the Sale of Wharfs when made - The number of chinese living on the Island supporting themselves by plunder - Copy also of a Presentment from the Grand Jury at Prince of Wales Island respecting Bengsan & others his Servants for unlawfully extorting of Money from the Public in the Management of the Public Farm. Observes that the Indictments have prepared and the results will be communicated hereafter and requests to be informed as to the Custom which prevails at Calcutta in regard to the Payment of Witnesses.
