Read a Dispatch from the Honble the Court of Directors in the Legislative Department No. 12 of 1855 dated the 21st November replying to letter from the Governer General No. 15 dated 22nd September 1855 regarding torture in India. Concurring with His Lordship that further enquiry into the existence of the evil would be superfluous, but have no objection to Legislation if necessary.-B.S.
