To Captain H. Man 49th Regiment M. N. I. with reference to his letter without date applying to be considered as having been permanently posted to the appointment of Superintending Engineer in the Straits from 9th March 1850 to 31st October 1851 states that the Military Auditor General at Madras reports that under the Regulars of that Pey an Office permanently filling one officer and temply discharging the duties of another, can only draw the full salary of one and a moiety of the other that he is therefor to consider the order passed on his case on the 14th July last final.
