Acting Chief Secretary - In reply to letter of the 20th April last states that the work Williams `Sakoontalas` therewith forwarded & non returned is considered by the Doctor P.P. to be nery suitable as a prize Book sanction has accordingly been given to procure from England such supphes of the work as my from time to time be required In regard to the question as to whither presents of that workd would be acceptable to Native princes & others that Government is of opinion that a charge would not be relished generally the present decorations of Shswls Kincales & tulovars being bighly appraciated by those whom Government have occasion to honon but for exceptional cases a supply of richly Bound copies of the work might be kept in store.
