Officiating Deputy Superintendent - As suggested in letter of the 17th January 1855, reports upon the results of the experimental communication with the shipping at Saugor by means of fishing boats for the purpose of obtaining intelligence- details circumstances which is his opinion, render it doubtful whether any advantage is derivable therefrom - suggests the accomplishment of the object in question by the instrumentallity of Marryatts signals between the Light House at Saugor & the Post Office at Kedgeree & requests instructions as to the continuance or otherwise of the boats under the present arrangements.
