To Superintendent Electric Telegraph - With reference to his letter dated 10th Ultimo reporting the failure of the system of sending messages on stamp Paper from places off the Telegraph lines and proposing that Civil surgeons at places where there are no telegraph officers be empowered to receive and forward such Messages on a small consideration approves of the proposal so far as regards the employment of a distinct agency for attuining the object in view but in liew of Civil # would have not objection to the employment of Post Masters on such duty to be remunerated by a Commission on the receipts the rate of which would be adjusted between himself and the Director General Post Office with whom he may Communicate on the subject.
