To Secretary - With Reference to the Correspondence connected with the discovery and the experimental working of the Iron beds in the Kumaon Hills and to the recent employment of Letter Strachey to investigate and report us to the total Cost on which smelting operations might be established for procuring some specified Amount of supply of Iron, forwards with Observations Copy of letter from # Colonel Drumemond dated 15th Instant and states that all through it is not desired to # in Colonel Drummonds employment if he is considered by the Lieutenant Governor unfit for the duty entrasted to Letter Strachey yet as it would not be right that Colonel D, if qualified should be passed over, wishes to know distric the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor as to the qualifications of Colonel Drummond for the employment he seeks to obtain, and the reasons which induced the Lieutenant Governor to Nominate Letter Strachey in preference.
