Read a despatch from teh Honble the Court Directors replying to foreign letter from teh Governor General No. 4 dated the 17th March 1858 regarding the services of Mr. HenryKavanagh diving the siege of Lucknow the Honble Court cordeally approve and senction the remain of 2,000 Rs. granted to him and his appointment to an assistant commission Ship in Oude and state that Mr. Kavanagh will be entitled to the Lucknow Medal which her Majisty entends to confer on the gerrison and reliving Army but that they are prealused by Army of the statuty of the are of the preduced by term of the statuty of the order of the Victoria Cross which are confered to memeber of the Military and Naval profession suppaty Mr. K. approve for the grant of that haremy distiection the Court desire tht their deep sense of his courage of services may be communicated to Mr. Kavanep.
