Read also Judicial Despatch No 33 of 1856 dated 16th July from the honble Court of Directors, replying to Public Letter No 5 dated the 15th January 1856 forwarding the explanation of the Lieut. Governor of Bengal in respect of the appointment of Mr. Reiley an Uncovenanted officer to officiate as a Civil and Sessions Judge and in respect of the proposed appointment of Mr.Payson alsoan Uncovenanted officer to be a Superintendencs of Survey the Court do not regard the explanation as fatis factory,but with reprence tothe Lieut. Governor`s proposal for the repeal of the statute 33 Geo. III 52 Sec. I.VIII. desire that this Government will report on the necessety of providing by law for the more extensive employment of Uncovenanted Ageney in the Public Service in India.
