Post Master General - In reply to letter of 26 Ultimo directing him to revise the Post Office Rules Tables of rates and distances, states that the routes by which the Mails travel are frequently not the same as those noted in the Quarter Master General Department. Notices the orders of Government directing him to regulate the distances on the great Western Road by the Mile Stones laid down by Captain Jeffreys. Suggests measures for the Adjustment of Dawk travelling Allowances to Public Servants and transmits a printed Copy of rules regarding Dawk bearers and list of Stations and rates Charged.
