Extract of a ltr. from the Deputy Adjt. gEnl. of the army no. 31 dated the 7th Jan. 1854 -In continuation of his ltr. no. 1325 of the 23rd ultimo, intimating that captai J.C. Haougton of the 54th and J.C. Brooke of the 6r3d Regt.N.I. who were promoted by G.G.A. no. 1002 of 2nd ultimo, being each the 4th Captain on detachment emply from their Corps, would appear to have become obnoxous to the rule contained in para 7 of the G.A. no. 489 of the 10th June 1853.
