A copy of this letter may be sent to India in continuation. There seems to be some truth in the statement made in the Deb Zimpen`s petition below that the Bhooteahs committed the raid in ignorance of British laws, and if, on consideration of the reasons urged in the petition, the Lt. Gov. deems it expedient to reduce the sentences passed on the raiders, we may in forwarding a copy of this letter and a translation of the petition, tell India so.
