Rule 4 of the Railway Service (Conduct) Rules, 1956, relating to participation by Railway servants in Election campaigns. (1) Proviso (iii) to sub-rule (4) of the Rule which authorised Government to permit an employee to offer himself as a candidate for election to a local authority was deleted on 16.6.1960. (2) Instruction were issued on 6.6.1959 and on 30.12.1962 before the general elections in 1962 regarding steps to ensure that Railway servants adhere strictly to the Rules and Instructions prohibiting them form participation in election campaigns
