Direct hiring of Messrs. M.P. Bhatnagar and R. Rangachari In order to be appointed to the Senior Scale in the Civil Engineering Department are G.N. Mehta, S.S. Swaminathan, M.I. Chayya, and P.H. Mehta. The offer extended to Messrs. G.N. Mehta and S.S. Swaminathan is cancelled. Mr. Rangachari was permitted to continue to be eligible for pensions. The departmental examination is not required to be passed by Messrs. Rangachari and Bhatnagar. The decision to give Mr. P.H. Mehta a higher starting salary of Rs. 76 as per the directives, with seniority staying unchanged on an ex-gratia basis. Mr. R. Rangachari's requests for a greater starting salary and seniority were turned down
