Genl. states that the C. in chief does not perceive that any niesity exists for appointing a sucessor to major genl Watson in the command at allahabad or for creating a 2nd Cass Brigade commd for that station and garrions aon the retirement of major genl. Watson on the 31st Inst. observaes at each of which a larger body of troops is located than at Allahabad.
