With reference to a letter of the 19th augt last reports that the extra allowance sactioned by the war office circular of 30th April 1845 and 14 January 1846, to provisseryts has been admitted in Bengal on account of same regiments as for back as March 1846 and generally from date of publication of the last mentioned circular in G O 2nd ., 14 Feby. 1848 and that the regulation sanction the superior scale of pay to mewpromoted in the room of those invalided from the date on which the latter quit the regt. but his rule has not been acted upon by oficers in command of corps of H Mr. Jerrnee on the Bengal Establishment.
