With reference to a letter of the 4th Instant, submit their report on the claim made by Lalla Jootee Persand against the East India Company for the sum of Rs. 57,79,239-6-3, besides interest alleged to be due to him in respect of supplies etc. furnish by him for the several campaigns of Cabul, Sutlege & the Punjanb, which they trust will explain sufficient the probable nature of the claims but observe that no definite report on their correctness can be afforted until Lalla Jootee Persand produce a clear & detailed statement of the several Items constituting his claim & the statement be compared with the original accounts in the Three Field offices.
