Acknowledging his despatch of the 6th Ultimo, relative to a Retrenchment of Indian Allowances from Lieutt. Archer who was transferred from H. Majesty's 29th to 96th Regiment & permitted to do duty with her Majesty's 24th Foot until the arrival of his Present Corps in India. And in reply intimating that the Retrenchment is in strict accordence with the Regulations, but that as a Special case & in Considered of good service stated to have rendered by Lieutt. Archer with H. Majesty's 24th foot during the late compaign Govt. sanction Indian Field allowances being passed during the period he did duty with the above Regiment.
