With reference to their letter of the 10th Jan. 1843, statign that the chargtes for country materials & making at Madras is much cheaper owing probably to theri having very little lace or ornament of any kind on the coat the clothig being prepared by contract state that the former constractors rates as above were fictitious, this profits derived from the cloth allowed in excess of teh quanitity bouafide required for the clothing of the army & offer observation on certain points.
