In reply to a lr. fo the 7th Feby. regarding his claims for staff pay from the 14th Feby. to the 8th Augt. 1843 while of the China expedition and with refec.to his lr. of the 19th Decr. last.offers obsrvations and explanations on the subject states that in fixing the amount he was guided by his monthly abstracts in China.
