In reply to a despatch of the 30th ultimo states that a greably tothe instruction contained in a letter from this depart. of the 29th march 1844 hunner willaim roberts of the arty. whose discharge from the service was purchase in I 1844 recommend the usual discharge certificate on the 1st may following & with reference to the accompaniying certificate from captain goodwyn of Engineers intimating that it was not the gunner wish India for the purpose of accepting emloyment no arrengment were made to provide him with a charter party passage to europe at the expense of the state.
