Correspondence on the subject of the deficiency in weight of excise cakes manufactured from Malwa opium. Issue of instructions by the Board of Revenue, North-Western Provinces and Oudh, similar to those issued by the Board of Revenue, Lower Provinces, for the payment of compensation on account of deficiency in weight of excise cakes manufactured from Malwa opium, and the grant of refunds upon the principles laid down in the instructions with effect from the time that Malwa opium was issued as excise opium in the North-Western Provinces and Oudh. Decision that any sums which may be necessary to pay as compensation to farmers and licensed vendors in the provinces supplied with Malwa excise opium should be accepted as debits to the Opium Department.
