Copy of a letter from Mr.William Smith , Agent of Mr.Botham , to Messrs Claud Alexender and John Furgusson, reporting the number of Masts and spars shipped on the Carleton ,stating that owing to the delay in the arrival of the Carleton a number of masts and spars were destroyed by white ants and that these had to be replaced at great expense, and enclosing with remarks an account of the expenditure incurred.
