Board - With reference to orders - Submit their sentiments on the expediency of providing for the discharge of the dutied of Secretary to their Board by an arrangeemnt which will obviate the necessity of paying as heretofore a separte Salary to the Secretary to the Board of Customs Salt & opinion in his capacity of Secretary to the Board - Offier as their opinion that the best and most economical course will be to appoirnt their presnet assistnat Mr. Greenlaw to the vacant Secretary Ship ( occasioned by Mr. Trotters removal for that office ) on the allowances now drawn by him or on the ground of addicinal responsibilty be fixed at Rs. 1200 Per mensiem, adverting to Mr. Greenlaws present private duties of Surveyor to some of the Insurance compaines. The Board hope in the went of the Government comferreing on him the higher grade of Office, that his relinquishment of theother may not allow him to be a Sufferer.
