From Board - In reply - Think it would be unexpedient to abolish the Appointment of Senior Surgeon at the Eastern Settlements - There should always be a disposable Medical Officer in the Straits, and a Superior Authority on the Spot as a Check. The Medical Department might be broken up & the Medicines sent round to this Presidency.
