The Committee appointed to Enquire into the Indents now made on England for articles for the Public Service Referring to instructions dated 21st December/55 & 29th August last reports the proceedings of the cunee & the results of the Enquires instituted by there & aunex Lists comprising all articles which are at present underted for from England exhibiting 1st Articles of Indent which are ordinary be manufactured in India equally serveeable with those supplied from home or for which effecient substitutes may be obtained here 2ed articles of Indent which or may be Manufactured in India, but of are inferiur descreption 3rd Articles of Indent which may be purchased in the India Market at the same of less cost & of equal quality 4th. articles of Indent which either cannot be purchased or for which the Indian market cannot be defended upon.
