Note by the Secretary - With reference to Acts XXXIV & XXXV passed by Legislative Council on the 1st and 8th Instant , the one to explain and amend ACt XXXIII of 1852 and the other to abolish the levy of Custom Duty on the import of the Cotton into the North Western Provinces observes that the first mentioned Act calls for no orders but as regard the second, suggestion in advertence to the proposition of the Select Committee on the Bill that instructions be issued to the Customs Authorities at the Presidency to discontinue payment from the 1st July 1856 of drawback of the Land frontier duty paid on the import of Cotton Wool into the North Western Provinces when exported from Calcutta.
