Superintendent - In reply to letter of the 21st December last calling for a report as to the circumstances under which the manager of the Lahore Chronicle was charged for a message containing overland intelligence forwards copy of a letter addressed to the Editor of that paper from which it will be seen that the charges are made entirely without his sanction & states that he ordered the money to be refunded the moment the matter came to his notice- submits also further explanation.
