From Secy- Acknowdges recived the letter no. 545 of 24th Feb. and of Extract from Court`s des, calling for information respecting the operation Hindoo Widows Marriage Act XV of 1856 and fords. copy of pepares showing in few remarriage of wedowes rescepectbility have taken place in Calcutta and in the Lower Provinces but that the Act has not yet come to be appreciated or to have had a general effect .
